Dear Madam, Sir, Please find attached a copy of my Curriculum Vitae as I seek a new role and opportunities. I have gained much of my experience with blue chip firms including more than fifteen years with IBM in Toronto, Finland, New Zealand, and IBM / PWC Malaysia, the UK, hp. My engagements have involved large scale outsources where I led or supported the engagements from opportunity identification through to proposition build, sales, negotiations, and contractual agreement, led delivery including team build, hardware, and product acquisition, 3rd partnerships engagement closure and transition to operational support. Domains include Telecommunications, Healthcare, Engineering, Finance, Education, Government Administration, and policy, including cross – domain solution technologies. I am seeking a senior level role involving operations, technology, corporate leadership as a change agent, client centricity whether they be internal or external, financial and commercial management. My roles have required focus on internal aspects of the business including risk portfolio management, efficiency, practice build, working with Sales to establish a go – forward strategy for domain expertise build required to support the corporate direction through skills management, team – wide education plans, as well as retention strategies for our people. In my experience each large-scale engagement can be seen as its own business entity with Revenue, profit and loss, contractual performance that roll up into the corporate targets and expectations. In short, my career has progressed as follows: software (compiler and systems) development and analysis, project management with strong sales involvement, onto the role of Principal at HP UK, Vice President of Sales and Operations for Bell Canada, profit and loss, extensive contracts development and management and the development of a cross – business view including managing large organizations spanning four countries and three continents concurrently. I highlight this part of my past in response to a “remote – first” environment where managing time zones is important to communication and leadership. I maintained a face-to-face presence with teams, superiors, and more importantly our Clients as and when required. My undergraduate degree is in Computing Science and Mathematics followed by a thesis and graduate degree in Theory of Computation, and Parallel Computing. I have been published on more than one occasion in Canada and the US, been a guest lecturer in Canada and London as well sat on multiple boards in the capacity of key technology advisor. Employers often mention a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and approach. In my experience, a “roll – up my sleeves approach” is most effective where I have demonstrable experience from current and previous roles allowing me to contribute for colleagues, reports, and peers. Experience, respect, trust, and attitude will support the camaraderie that is also important to our joint success. Metrics are also essential. It starts with CxO level goals setting; these goals should be adopted by all members of the team such that company – wide we can collate corporate data and discussions which will lead team members to pointed and measurable actions as identified by an agreed upon metrics system such as balance scorecard. Ownership is important to any initiative or outcome. Many team members can help and support however, a singular owner vital to reaching agreed upon goals. Social and governance aspects of our businesses continue to grow in complexity. I have experience in the development and distribution of Client data which crosses multiple jurisdictions and domains involving government policy. Policies for the building, transport and delivery of solutions also have variances and are often country dependent as are employee management policies and should be taken seriously. Operating methods and processes are also critical to the organisation’s success as well that of our Clients. Existing processes should be understood, documented if need be, and opinions solicited before changes can be introduced. My interests for a role change, whether remote or physically located, are from a desire to realise greater market potential and grow a business, enhance and grow a skills pool supporting corporate direction and to find a base that allows me to align with the professional and cultural community. I am seeking a long-term position rather than a short, one to year consulting engagement. I am presently working in Dallas, Texas. I have three beautiful children, grown and living in Canada, single and open to discussing relocation to anywhere in the world. In closing, I am very excited at the possibility of a change. Exciting is an opportunity that encourages change, communication, and collaboration which, ultimately will lead to innovation. Kindly review my background and, if you feel it interesting, we can find time for a video conference. Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration. Respectfully, Shailan Topiwala T: +214-399-8066 / e: shailan@topiwala.net, Operations
